First, I must say I absolutely loved this book! Read it in less than 12 hours- very difficult to put down, so caution when you begin it. This book flows in all the right ways. It was easy to understand and keep up. My only complaint would be the cliffhanger but I’ll let it slide this time as the book was awesome!

The book starts with Dareena, a girl who everyone considers a nobody, working for Mr. Harrin at his Inn. Mr. Harrin is her only prospect for a husband until she attends the Dragon’s Hunt Festival. Picked by the huntress, who happens to be the daughter of King Dragomir, Dareena goes to the Dragon’s Keep. Her life changes when she is chosen as the Dragon’s Gift, the one who must bear the future king’s children to keep the Dragon lines going. If only it were that simple...the King has gone mad from the death of his wife years ago. Instead of making the choice of who succeeds him, he forces Dareena to choose one of his three sons (Drystan, Lucyan, and Alistair) after courting for a couple weeks. While getting to know the three potential dragon kings, Dareena discovers who she is sexually. Complicating things during this time, the kingdom is at war with the Elves, who are believed to have caused the death of the previous Dragon’s gift. Dareena finds that what everyone believes and sees is not quite true…

The first half of the book contains little to no sexual encounters and serves more as the base of the story, while the second half is full of sex.

The book is full of fun characters and I can’t wait for their stories to unfold. If you love fantasy or books like the Merry Gentry series, you will want to read this book.

This is a delightful book full of intriguing characters and a great story line. Apparently the authors set out to write an 'erotic' book set along similar lines as her long list of magical works, and she has done so very tastefully. The first half of the book sets up the characters and story and does a great job of introducing the major players. Dareena, the prime protagonist is a strong woman of high intelligence and determination to rise above her humble birth status and as the story grows so does her character respond to the amazing new circumstances she finds herself in. Then, when we get to the 'juicy' bits the story is just explicit enough to be considered erotica without plunging over the cliff into too much hard core. I love the reverse harem theme and the way she figures out how to get the most out of having three handsome princes vying for her favor. I think I see where this is going, and I hope I'm right (but I'm no spoiler so my supposition will remain mine for the nonce) because it could prove to be a fascination trip through two, or who knows, more books in the series. I highly recommend Dragons Gift to any and all who love magical fantasy kissed by just the right amount of naughtiness!
A few months ago, I didn't even know "reverse
harem" was a thing. Then I bought one book and
now they show up in my recommendations all
the time. Well, fair enough; I don't have any
particular moral objections and neither did the
Pandavas.

I know Jasmine Walt mainly through her Sundra
Baine books -- a second world, semi-steampunk,
magic works series. Those are straight-forward
and entertaining books that she writes alone. I
checked out one of her other series which she does
in collaboration and did not find it very
compelling, but this one is a good bit better.

Dareena Sellis is an orphaned young woman working
in a tavern in a second world where magic works.
The known world in which she lives is divided into
three, often warring, kingdoms One of elves, one
of dragons and one of mages. She lives in the
dragon kingdom. Centuries ago, the gods of the
three kingdoms were at war along with their
countries, and the dragons were saddled with a
curse of infertility. Their god was too evenly
matched to overcome the curse, but did manage to
mitigate it somewhat to the extent that the dragon
king can reproduce with a human -- one particular,
specially chosen, human in each generation known
as "The Dragon's Gift". Now with the last
Dragon's Gift dead, apparently at the hand of the
elves, and the dragon king going unstable as a
result, the search is on for the next Dragon's
Gift, with the added complication that for the
first time in history, the dragon king does not
have one heir, but three triplet sons. The Gift
almost always comes from the human nobility.. how
could a simple tavern girl have any hope?

Well, if you've read any fantasy, or any romance,
that's not a question you actually ask yourself.
Dareena of course becomes The Dragon's Gife and
enamored of all three brothers, and an ancient
prophecy that this is kind of fated removes any
qualms she might have, not to mention that
boinking the Dragon's Gift as frequently as
possible brings a major Dragon power boost and
moves up the ability to shift by years --
something desperately important if the brothers
are to have any hope of bringing down the mad king
and winning the ill-advised war he has gotten the
kingdom into.

No new ground broken here, but the brothers
actually have fairly well delineated and different
personalities, and Dareena is no passive
pawn/brood-mare.
