Daisy and Alec are newly married, and are thoroughly surprised when Alec's boss tells them that they have been given a trip to the USA so that he can help the FBI's new chief to come up with a plan to keep the agency in line(--and also to keep their eyes on the fiancée of a very rich industrialist). Almost as soon as they reach open water, however, a series of mysterious accidents occur as other passengers end up overboard. And as soon as someone tells the captain that Alec is from Scotland Yard, he is tasked for coming up with explanations, meaning that Daisy jumps in to give him a hand. This is a very nice read--I am currently up at 1:59 because I couldn't put it down. Both Daisy and Alec continue to develop depth, and their interactions are fun to watch. I would recommend beginning with the first book in the series, but that is certainly not necessary.

The crime was blatantly apparent though Ms. Dunn did try to move suspicions around, but with no sustenance. The insult was the insistence of calling the educated herbalist "a witch" and "the witch." It was an attitude throw back to the Spanish Inquisition.
Another excellent mystery for all ages. Ms. Dunn, as usual, tosses in enough possible suspects to make figuring out the end, prior to getting there, highly improbable.
did not care for the use of WITCH instead of herbalist or naturalist. even if the hill country people of rural England 1923 might have used it. getting tired of the heroine thinking she knows more of a field she was never educated in.
It was another fun adventure. I have been listening to all of the books in the series. They are delightful. Daisy is a wonderful character. They are fun. We all need some fun in today’s world!
A little long in solving and a bit boring at times. But loved the book cover for it is an old version from England. The book looked almost new. Actually some of these used books I have ordered seem brand new. Like getting books from England.
This book started out so good. I was laughing out loud at parts (especially concerning Wanda's married name) and certain it was going to be worthy of 5 stars. But the last couple of chapters started to drag. And I had guessed the case of mistaken identity right off the bat. Nor was the wrap-up completely satisfactory. A story which started out with a bang, hummed along smoothly for the most part, but fizzled out in the end.
Daisy and Alec are given a 'present' an additional portion of honeymoon sailing to America with Arbuckle and family. Arbuckle's buddy has married a showgirl much to his dismay. Daisy and Alec are traveling as regular citizens until a farmer goes overboard and a bright young thing swears he was pushed. Soon after Arbuckle's friend is standing near another man who goes overboard and swears he was shot first. The whole thing was obvious to me even before something went wrong, the set up, the reasons and the mastermind. Still fun visiting old friends.
